WHO ARE WE?
Our shelter started 19 years ago when one woman decided to help the street dogs around Zadar after the war. The first kennels were built in an abandoned military field, and was one by one filled with homeless dogs. The shelter slowly grew to house 250-300 dogs. Today, the shelter is run by four women who has dedicated their lives to the dogs. 2022 the land was sold and the shelter had to move across the street where it’s located today. We decided to build enough kennels for around 100 dogs, to be able to give them the time and love they all deserve during their time at the shelter.
OUR GOAL
Our goal is to provide a safe and loving environment for all of our dogs. The ultimate objective is to find permanent homes for all the dogs in our care. In order to achieve this, we have several objecives.
Firstly, to offer medical care, food, clean water, and personal attention for each dog. Secondly, to ensure the dogs feel safe, are socialized, and when there’s enough time, get walks. Thirdly, to create an easy process of adoption, including an assessment to find a suitable match for the dog and the adopting family. Additionally, we also aim to prevent the overpopulation of dogs within a community by neutering/spaying all our dogs.
